What has America's melting pot turned out to be? Tonight we look away from the news (children in cages, walls and camps), and examine how fiction helps us understand the complexities of immigration and community. Bay Area authors Elaine Castillo (America is Not the Heart) and Shanthi Sekaran (Lucky Boy) discuss and share their work, set variously in the Philippines, Mexico, Berkeley, and Milpitas. Moderated by Angie Chau (Quiet As They Come). $15 adv / $20 door
