Conor O’Callaghan

Born in Newry in 1968 and raised in Dundalk, Conor O’Callaghan is the author of five poetry collections: Live Streaming (2017); The Sun King (2013); Fiction (2005); Seatown (1999); and The History of Rain (1993), which won the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award; all published by Gallery. The Irish Times called his novel Nothing on Earth (Doubleday Ireland, 2016) “one of the most impressive pieces of Irish fiction since Neil Jordan’s The Dream of a Beast in 1983.” The recipient of the Rooney Prize Special Award, the Times Educational Fellowship, and the 2007 Bess Hokin Prize from Poetry magazine, O’Callaghan is a former Heimbold Chair of Irish Studies at Villanova and a former professor at Wake Forest University. He currently lectures at Sheffield Hallam University in Sheffield.
